Dusty Old Books Ltd recognises that buying used books over the Net needs trust and faith on both sides, and we do our best to be legal, decent, honest and truthful.
Most of the books listed on this site are rare, secondhand and antiquarian and are subject to availability. It is possible that since this site was updated, even in the past few minutes, the books in which you have expressed an interest may have been ordered by someone else, and therefore no longer available. If available, we shall confirm acceptance of your order, but cannot accept any liability for damages caused by the non-availability of goods.
The description of these books is given in good faith and although we endeavour to provide accurate descriptions, all information and specifications are approximate only; and we make no warrant or representation that any such information on the Website is up-to date, or that any problems will be corrected, or that it is free from viruses, etc. In particular Dusty Old Books Ltd shall not be responsible for damages arising from out of date or incorrect data; and it reserves the right to change any content or information on this website at any time without notice and without liability. Photographs of the books are provided to supplement the descriptions, and if not available on the Website, are available on request. The colour and texture of any cover, plate or illustration as displayed on the Website, may vary from the true colour and texture of the Goods supplied to you (due to the limitations of the camera, website, monitor and printer). Dusty Old Books excludes all liability for incidental, consequential or indirect damages, loss of profits or any other damages arising from: the use or inability to use or access its Website; or arising from any information or services provided or accessed from its Website.
We will not knowingly violate copyright laws by selling, trading, distributing or creating illegally produced copies of works currently protected by copyright. However sample photographs of printed material are displayed on the Website for the purposes of advertising books and ephemera.
It is not intended to profit from Postage and packing, but UK postal rates have several hundred tariffs depending on book weight, speed of delivery and destination, thus for most books, the following indicative costs and delivery times will apply. However costs may be higher for very large or very heavy books. A set of volumes, described as one 'item' actually comprises several 'books'. If you require goods to be despatched more quickly or securely (courier, etc), please let us know your requirements and we will do our best to comply. If you would prefer to collect your books in person, please ring to pre-arrange the authorisation of the collector, and a mutually suitable time. We do try to ship books within 24 hours of order, during Monday-Friday.

We will charge for shipping only, as described above. In all cases, you are responsible for complying with any legislation or regulation governing the importation of the Goods including any import duties, taxes, clearances and charges payable to the destination country.
All prices are stated in Pounds Sterling (GBP). Despite our best endeavours, a few books may be mispriced (due to typing errors, changes to postal and shipment costs), however our procedures check prices before despatch. If we discover that the correct price is higher than stated, we will contact you for instructions. If we discover that the correct price is lower, we will automatically charge you the lower price. We sell rare, collectable and technical books.
Payment must be received in the form of Credit Card, cash or cheque drawn on UK bank, before despatch is made. If you do not wish to use the Website to send payment details, please print out the order form and fax it, or telephone. Books will be reserved for 14 days pending receipt of payment.
Secure credit card payments at this site are handled by Secure Trading. Secure Trading are
approved by all major banks and provide a secure payment method where Credit Card details
are processed directly by the bank and not divulged to Dusty Old Books.
You may return any book from us within 7 days of receipt for any reason whatsoever. If we receive the book in the same condition as it was received by you, we will refund the price you paid for the book, but not the postage, insurance and packing costs in either direction. If we have inadvertantly sent you the wrong book, all delivery charges will be refunded. Please give us written notice before despatch, and please use a courier or insured registered mail service for returns, as books that are not received cannot be credited.
We obviously need your name, address and payment information for the transaction and delivery to occur. All such data is treated as extremely confidential and private. It is also subject to the Data Protection Act which prohibits UK companies from divulging your personal information to any other company without your authorisation. All the data that you enter on our Website will be encrypted before it is transmitted to us. Our Website is operated by our Internet Service Provider (ISP) who provides the highest levels of security in order to protect this and other Websites.
If you have provided us with a 'books wanted' list we will contact you by email when we have found your books. From time to time, we would like to provide you with short newsletters, or information that we believe might be of interest to you.
We reserve the right to exclude customers or potential customers, temporarily or permanently, if we believe they are engaged in or are suspected to have engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity.
Whilst cookies have received negative publicity, temporary cookies are necessary to 'tag' your selected books to your Shopping Cart. When you reach the checkout till, the cookies tell us which books are in your cart. This is how most 'shopping basket' sites work. When you make a purchase, your Shopping Cart is wiped clean of cookies. If your system is set to reject cookies, you may still order by telephoning, or sending us an email or fax containing your details and the books you wish to purchase.
In case of dispute, the country in which a contract has been performed is understood by all parties to have occurred in the UK. This Website, its content and information shall be governed by the laws of England and the courts of England shall be the place of jurisdiction.
For individual or small collections of books please ring to arrange an appointment to visit us here in Marsh Gibbon, Oxfordshire. If you can't visit us in person, for individual books, please describe the books as well as you can: date, author, title, illustrations, binding, condition, number of pages, and send your list together with photographs by post or email to buyme@dustyoldbooks.com For large collections, please telephone, so we can make an appointment to visit you. We will not knowingly purchase stolen goods; and may require assurances that the seller has the authority to sell.
We are located on a small and select trading estate. There is plenty of free parking. Please telephone before setting out to visit us, to ensure that we will be available.
